There is a new webpage on the Black Hills Audubon website in which our members could be interested. It’s called Birding Tools and Apps and it has links to nine online resources that are helpful in the pursuit of birds. This page is under the Birding tab. Here are some of those tools:
eBird
Merlin
iNaturalist
BirdNet
Larkwire
Birder’s Dashboard
Also new on the website is a video produced by Board member Kim Adelson and Capitol Land Trust to introduce elementary school students to some of our local birds and basic ecosystem concepts. It is found under the Youth tab. Filmed on the Olympia area Inspire Kids Preserve, owned by the Trust, it is beautifully done and well worth taking a look.
And, in case you missed the class, the recording of Bill Tweit’s presentation on using eBird is now on our website, under Education > Classes and Workshops. Geared to the beginner and intermediate birder, it is full of helpful information for taking advantage of all the benefits of using this extensive database.
