This annual event is back after a two-year break due to COVID-19 restrictions. BHAS volunteers will be helping by tabling for our organization and by leading a bird walk. But Sabra Noyes, one of the event coordinators, contacted us to ask for more general assistance. This is a fun event for volunteers, and the only time Black River-Mima Prairie Glacial Prairie Preserve is open to the public. Address: 15044 Mima Rd SW, Olympia, WA 98512.
She says:
On Prairie Appreciation Day, May 14 we could use help at Glacial Heritage Preserve, anytime between 9-4:30:
- an activity trail with stations that need help with children’s games and engaging the public;
- jobs managing the flow of guests;
- help in the retail booth to raise funds for prairie support;
- help between 3–4:30 to do the tear down.
Following tear down, we have a Happy Hour!
On May 13th from 9-3 we can use help setting up the site, marking trails, installing canopies, and so on.
