All chapter work is done by volunteers for whom we are very grateful. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, our volunteer opportunities will be limited for some time. The following are opportunities that can be done without being exposed to others.
Winter Raptor Survey: The Winter Raptor Survey Project, coordinated by Jeff Fleischer of the East Cascade Audubon Society Chapter in Bend, Oregon, is seeking volunteer participants for this season’s survey. Volunteer recruitment needs to be completed by November and the survey runs between December and February. The project provides training and data sheets. Volunteers need to have general ability to ID raptors, binoculars, and an optional spotting scope. Volunteers conduct their own survey along a predetermined route that may cover from 50 to 75 miles.

Field Trip Coordinator: When we are again able to offer group field trips, we need a person with knowledge of birding destinations in south Puget Sound and environs to organize our much loved outings. We have wonderful and willing field trip leaders as well as traditional trips on which you can build. All that is needed is some organizational and communication skills and the ‘all clear’ from health officials. ksnyder75@nullgmail.com
Board of Directors: Although our Board is not meeting in person at the moment, we are meeting via Zoom. We currently have three openings for interested individuals. Duties include attending our monthly Board meetings (Thursday evening), providing organizational leadership, and supporting our mission and goals.
