- Although our annual dinner and fundraiser had to be cancelled, our financial health is sound. In light of this, the Board voted to donate $3400 to Audubon Washington as our 2020 contribution.
- The Conservation Committee is advertising for an intern to work over the next 18 months on the Thurston County Shoreline Master Plan update. This person would represent the interests of BHAS, Sierra Club South Sound, League of Women Voters of Thurston County, Thurston Environmental Voters, and Thurston Climate Action Team.
- Discussion was started on when BHAS should promote the volunteer needs of other environmental organizations.
- The Board had an in-depth discussion of when our BHAS field trips and other activities should begin again. The Governor’s guidelines advise that people 65 years and older should shelter at home until Phase 4. Also, not using carpools for distant field trip destinations is an environmental concern for our organization. Therefore the Board will not sponsor group activities through August at least when the situation will be re-visited.
- Our next meeting will be our Board retreat in August.
