There are three new DIY field trips posted on our website for you to explore. Bob Wadsworth scouted out LBA Woods in SE Olympia which is one of his favorite “patches”. It is a beautiful retreat in a suburban environment.
Anders Price scouted some new territory – three parcels of land owned by Capitol Land Trust and open to the public. Randall Preserve on Mud Bay, Hilburn Preserve just west of Shelton, and Bayshore Preserve on Highway 3 just east of Shelton have wonderful birding opportunities that not many of us have explored.
Some of you may know Woodard Bay Conservation Area in the north Olympia area. Jen DeSelle knows it well and knows that now is when the waterfowl are returning from their nesting grounds. She’ll scope it out for you; it’s one of the prettiest walks for good birds in our vicinity.
All of these trip reports can be found on our homepage, towards the bottom. The latest report is posted but the older reports can still be accessed by clicking on the blue “See All DIY Field Trips” button. Check back often as we add new reports about every ten days. BHAS is happy to help get you outside and very appreciative of our DIY scouts.
