Birding at Woodard Bay Conservation Area – Rescheduled due to January weather

Date: Saturday, 10 February 2024

Start/End:  8 – 11 AM

Trip leader: Bonnie Woods

Meeting Place: Meet at Woodard Bay parking area. Discover Pass required. Look for people with binoculars.

Description:  This field trip is primarily for beginning and intermediate birders.  Dress appropriately for the day’s weather.  Be prepared to walk an approximately ½ mile paved road with gentle hills.  If desired, there is also a path through the forest that consists mostly of conifers.  We will see and hear the usual resident birds as well as ducks, other water birds and seals.

Directions: Woodard Bay Conservation Area is on Woodard Bay Road NE between Libby and Shincke Road. The parking area is next to the Woodard Bay estuary on the west side of the bridge over Woodard Creek.

Bring: Binoculars, a scope if you have one, and a field guide if you want one. Merlin Bird ID is a great phone app for identifying birds. A hands-free pack for water, snacks, and personal items.
