January 26, 2022 @ 8:30 am-11:30 am
Field Trip to Olympia Waterfronts
Date: Wednesday, January 26
Start/End: From 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
Leader: Paul Hicks
RSVP: by Monday, January 24, with cell number, to paulhicks7373@nullgmail.com
Targets: saltwater and freshwater waterfowl. 15+ species are possible, more if you count loons, grebes and alcids.
Start: KGY Point/North Point parking lot, below the radio towers just before Hearth Fire
End: Probably along “lower” Capitol Lake. People may leave at any time.
Travel: We will caravan from Budd Bay in the direction of Capitol Lake with several stops along the way. Any walking will be on level paths or sidewalks.
Bring: Binoculars, a scope if you have one, and a field guide if you want one. I also suggest a hands-free pack for water, snacks, and personal items.
COVID PRECAUTIONS: No carpooling beyond family or “friend-pods”;
- Participants agree to follow current Washington Phase Covid-19 guidance. They must stay home if they have a fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle aches, or new loss of taste or smell.
- Covid vaccinations of attendees are strongly encouraged.
- Social distancing of 6 feet, except within family pod, will be maintained.
- No sharing of binoculars, except within family pod.
Dress for the conditions; dull natural fabrics are more bird-friendly than bright synthetics.
Weather/Cancellation: Rotten weather will cancel this outing. Those who RSVP will be contacted by 7am via email or text in case of cancellation. We will try to re-schedule for the following Wednesday morning.
