Valerie Segrest is a nationally-known expert on food sovereignty, native nutrition, place-based foods, and health systems. Valerie is the co founder of Tahoma Peak Solutions, an organization focused on helping sovereign nations and organizations strategically communicate their stories, develop food sovereignty plans and assessments, and provide indigenous DEI and cultural education. Valerie is also the author of Feeding Seven Generations: A Salish Cookbook and Feeding the People, Feeding the Spirit: Revitalizing Northwest Coastal Indian Food Culture.
Jeff Thomas is the Timber, Fish, and Wildlife Director for the Puyallup Tribe. In the face of many challenges, the Puyallup tribe has developed a number of innovative ways to steward their traditional forests, lands, and waters, as well as the many relations that also call this space home. Jeff has led many of these efforts in his role as the director.
