Birding at Black Lake Meadows

Date: Saturday, 30 December 2023

Location: Meet at Black Lake Meadows Reserve parking area, 3333 21st Ave SW, Olympia, WA, USA

Start/End:  Meet at 8 AM and plan around two hours for the walk.

Description:  Join Lin “Caspian” Stern on a laid-back holiday walk to Black Lake Meadows. This short, one-mile trail travels through meadow, coniferous forest, and wet riparian habitats, providing good looks at a variety of wintering passerine species. The trail is well-maintained dirt or gravel and remains flat the entire time.

We will meet at 8 AM in the small parking lot near the railroad tracks at the trailhead. Discover passes are not required.  Remember to dress warmly and bring a waterproof layer in case of rain. Binoculars are recommended and a loaner pair can be requested by emailing Black Hills Audubon at bhas@nullblackhills-audubon.org. Snacks, water, and a warm drink are encouraged.

Bring: Binoculars and a field guide if you want one. Dress appropriately for the day’s weather.
