Zoom meeting June 25th.  Send Comments by June 30

Hello BHAS members –

The BHAS Conservation Committee is drafting comments to submit to Thurston County on their Comprehensive Plan 2045 update.     We’d like to try something new and invite all interested members to attend a zoom session or send us email, so we can hear from you on these subjects.  Our aim is to include all your valuable insights to increase the impact of our chapter comments.

The Zoom session will be Tuesday, June 25^th, at 7 pm.  You can attend by opening the following link:

If you want to submit ideas or comments without attending the Zoom meeting, please send them to conservationchair@nullblackhills-audubon.org by June 30^th.  We’ll add them to our group input.

You can also submit your own individual comments on the Plan’s chapters through the county’s website.  Please see the attachment for information and resources on the plan and how to comment.

Comprehensive Plan background:

Comp plans are a requirement of Washington State’s Growth Management Act (GMA), which is designed to curb urban sprawl and support coordinated infrastructure among municipalities.  Each county and city is required to create and update a statement of vision, goals and objectives for the next 20 years, so this update process is in full swing at Thurston County.  The TC Planning Commission is reviewing now and will submit a recommended full draft late Fall 2045 to the Board of County Commissioners.  They will review and approve a final version in late 2025.
