Birding Field Trip to Theler Wetlands Trail

DESCRIPTION:   The walk will cover about 3 miles. Long a favorite birding hot spot, Theler Wetlands offers a mostly level gravel trail through a mix of cultivated plantings, alder, marine shoreline, pasture, wetland, and streamside habitats.  A short boardwalk leads to a viewing platform where birders can scan open water for sea birds. There are rest room facilities at the parking area.

Ideally this outing will have no more than 10 participants.

WHAT TO BRING:  Dress in layers. Prepare for wet winter weather.  Bring snacks and water.  Bring binoculars and a spotting scope if you have them.

LOCATION:   Theler Wetlands is roughly 55 minutes north of Olympia on Highway 3 just before one enters the heart of the town of Belfair.  22641 Highway 3 is on the left side of the highway when you are northbound.  We will meet in the south part of the parking lot near the trail head.
