Annual Hardcore Birders’ Field Trip to Kitsap and Jefferson Counties
November 5, 2016
Attention hardcore birders! This trip is for you. Last year’s trip featured excellent sightings of Harlequin Ducks and Long-Tailed Ducks, along with other birds and waterfowl totaling nearly 100 species. The weather has always cooperated for this field trip, too, so if you count yourself a hardcore, tireless birder, save this date. Crossing the Narrows Bridge with Port Townsend as the final destination, the day’s emphasis will be to seek waterbirds arriving for the winter. The first stop along the way will be Gorst; further stops will include Marrowstone Island and Fort Flagler. In addition to waterfowl and other birds, this trip offers lovely views of Hood Canal, Admiralty Inlet, and the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
Dress for any kind of weather. Bring food and snacks.
Meet at the Martin Way Park & Ride in Olympia at 6:00 a.m. or the Sixth Avenue Park & Ride in Tacoma at 6:45 a.m. This trip is limited to four cars. To register, contact Phil Kelley at 360-459-1499 or email him at Scrubjay323@nullaol.com.
