The Board spent time going over two new policies for the chapter. One is for major projects; the other is for some issues with fundraising. Decisions on both of these policies were postponed while changes are made to the drafts.
The Board also did some work on a survey for our members to examine our equity, diversity and inclusion status and needs.
Chapter field trips are being planned starting in late June. We were asked to assist on two June field trips sponsored by other organizations which celebrated Black Birders Week and LGBT Month.
The chapter has a new Outreach Coordinator, Suzanne Wilson. We are very pleased to have someone fill this new role.
Birds & Brew will try meeting in person at an outdoor venue this month. The Boston Harbor Marina is being explored for this.
The Conservation Committee reported that the Friends of Rocky Prairie, Forterra and Conservation NW are looking for bridge funding to purchase the Port of Tacoma’s Rocky Prairie property until enough public funds can be obtained. The Port of Tacoma has indicated a willingness to consider a sale to conservation buyers.
