Learn about birds while you color!
The world of birds is colorful and fascinating. From icy Antarctica to tropical jungles, birds live practically everywhere. They inspire us to wonder about the natural world. Young birders look at a flock of birds and wonder: How do they fly? What do they do in a storm? Where do they get their amazing colors?
These questions and more are explored in a coloring book written by Michael Erb, a birder and scientist living in Flagstaff, AZ. Michael wanted to combine the wonder of birds with his love of science and learning. He’s been making bird coloring books for the past couple years. This coloring book, called “A Colorful Introduction to Birds,” has colorable illustrations of 50 different bird species, crosswords, word searches, and more.
If you’re feeling creative, you can download pages from this book and others at ColorBird.org. At the website, you can find pages to color, crosswords, word searches, and other activities. If you have feedback about this project, which seeks to combine bird education with fun activities, feel free to contact Michael Erb using the contact page on that site. Happy birding!
