This month with Suzanne
It’s Christmas Bird Count and Suzanne is wandering Priest Point Park blending in with the trees and ferns on a rare, clear Sunday. The birds won’t catch her watching as she blends her casual fall colors with the blues of the dark days of the northwest winter of 2020. Her long ponytail is indicative of the many hairdos during a pandemic and hers flows with ease down her blue raincoat.
In true COVID-19-birdwatcher-granola detail she has a ‘Trees of the Northwest’ hanky falling out of her vest. It matches her cute version of a camo umbrella. She started using the handkerchief during the shocking toilet paper shortage in the early days of the pandemic and now realizes how handy it really is. And for some reason, birders love Subarus and Suzanne doesn’t disappoint. She sips from her Klean Kanteen that was a freebie from Subaru when she got her new car, which has a moon roof in case she needs to stand up and bird and a high base to get up those muddy, dirt roads. Her birding super power is her patience and the ability to stand still for long periods of time.
