Here is the first of our new Western Bluebird nest boxes now ready to be installed in the Violet Prairie area of south Thurston County. It was built by Reinhold Groepler under the guidance of Mary McCallum. Reinhold will be building more of them and Fred Bergdolt and Kayleigh Kueffner will be making some as well. We are off to a very good start. It is our plan to get them installed in early spring, before the arrival of the bluebirds. We will also be modifying and moving some existing boxes that are already installed.
If you are interested in helping with this project, we are looking for folks to assist with box installation and maintenance. We also need people to monitor the boxes through the spring and summer.
