IT’S TIME FOR THE CHRISTMAS BIRD COUNT!
The 124th Christmas Bird Count (CBC) is just around the corner. This is a fun, worthwhile activity, one that has become a happy tradition for many people here and around the country. Black Hills Audubon runs two circle counts each year. The circles and their count coordinators are listed below with contact email addresses.
The Olympia Circle on Sunday, December 17th with Bill Shelmerdine georn1@nullhotmail.com
The Lewis County Circle on Saturday, December 23rd with Allison Anholt Allison.anholt@nullgmail.com
We are also looking for homeowners who are willing to survey the birds on their property. The properties need to be located within the established circles.
If you are interested in participating in the CBC, contact the count coordinator in your area of interest for an assignment.
Regarding Covid restrictions, if you are carpooling during the count, the driver has the prerogative of making masks mandatory or optional during the drive. There are no compilation dinners planned at this time. If someone wants to organize one, please contact one of the coordinators.
Organizing the CBC events involves a lot of paperwork and details. BHAS extends our deepest appreciation to Bill Shelmerdine and Allison Anholt for their hard work as CBC coordinators.
