If you haven’t watched Pigeon Guillemots in the water or on the beach near the breeding colonies on sandy bluffs in the late spring–wading in the water for a fish for their chicks, or darting into the burrow with the fish–you could get a chance this summer! Over 300 Pigeon Guillemots, our locally breeding seabird, are counted each year across South Sound and chicks are raised in over 50 active burrows.
Nisqually Reach Nature Center sponsors a Pigeon Guillemot Breeding Survey with more than 60 volunteers participating each season. We’d like to invite you to volunteer for Summer 2021, Season 9 of the survey. Our virtual volunteer training on Zoom will happen on Saturday, May 15.
Please email Terence Lee (terencelee@nullnisquallyestuary.org) or Anne Mills (millsa804@nullgmail.com) to register for the training or find out more about the survey program. To learn more click here http://nisquallyestuary.org/
