Black Hills seeks to protect listed species (such as the Streaked Horned
Lark) and other wildlife on Airport property operated by the Port of Olympia.
Procedures to implement the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) as it applies to Port of Olympia property were approved by the Port Commissioners on 9-28-2015. These procedures improve the comment and appeal process for environmental advocates. Citizens will now have fewer hurdles to clear, as well as more time and a clearer process if and when there is a reason to pursue an appeal. BHAS worked with the Port Commissioners and staff in an ongoing effort over the past two years to help seek these SEPA-related provisions that protect wildlife and that are more equitable for citizens.
