West Rocky Prairie

June 15, 2019 @ 6:30 am-1:00 pm

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Located near Millersylvania State Park, West Rocky Prairie is a large, high-quality, native prairie with oak, ash, and fir woodlands managed by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. This trip includes a good variety of open country and forest birds such as Chipping Sparrows, House Wrens, and six warbler species.

Dress for the weather and expect to walk about 1.5 miles. Some of the walking is over uneven ground so wear sturdy footwear. Bring water, snacks, and sunscreen. PLEASE NOTE: the area is undeveloped and does not have bathrooms.

Meet at the L & I parking lot in Tumwater. Plan to carpool, since parking is limited at West Rocky Prairie. A Discover Pass is needed for all vehicles. Group size is limited to 12 people and three vehicles. Call Gary at 360-943-8786 for reservations.
