FIELD TRIP TO POINT NO POINT AREA
Date: MARCH 11TH All day trip.
Leaders: Kyle Leader and Kathleen Snyder
Registration Required: ksnyder75@nullgmail.com Trip limited to 16 participants.
Black Hills Audubon is trying out a carpool field trip once more. We will take four cars with four people in each. MASKING will be required during car rides but will be optional while we are outside the cars. Please note that N95 or KN95 masks worn over the mouth and nose will be required.
Unfortunately, Point No Point Park as well as the road to it suffered flood damage during December’s king tides. Consequently, we will be unable to visit the park and lighthouse. However, we will go to Norwegian Park, Twin Spits, the Nature Conservancy’s Foulweather Bluff Preserve, and Buck Lake. The drive there will be about 1.5 hours. We will depart at 7 a.m. from the Martin Way Park and Ride, and return in the late afternoon. Registration is required with Kathleen Snyder at ksnyder75@nullgmail.com. Bring a sack lunch, clothing for chilly waterfronts, money to cover gas and bridge toll, and scope if available.
Terrain: The trail to Foulweather Bluff is about half a mile long with exposed tree roots but mostly flat. The trails at Buck Lake are mostly wide and flat; length is variable depending on the time we arrive. We might also stop at Port Gamble or Salsbury Point depending on time constraints
