eBird Basics Class with Bill Tweit

May 11, 2022 @ 7:00 pm-8:30 pm

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

BHAS is excited to let you know that Bill Tweit, one of the state’s most well-known and well-respected birders, has offered to teach a course for us about eBird.

In Bill’s words, “This class is geared towards beginning and intermediate level eBird users.  We will explore all of the eBird functions, learn about best practices for checklist quality and value, and see some of the output from eBird. It will also cover how to use Merlin in combination with eBird.  To get the most value from the class, participants should have already set up an eBird account (free and easy, go to eBird.org) and have both the eBird app and Merlin loaded onto their smartphone.”

The class will be offered free of charge on Wednesday, May 11 at 7:00 PM. Bill will speak for about an hour and then take questions. (We anticipate many and think that this part of the presentation will last 30-45 minutes.)

Although we are not charging a fee for the class, it is necessary for you to pre-register. The link to do so is https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZYlc–vpz4pE9DjqgBsmATqpDnaKkakSDV4.

Please remember to download the eBird and Merlin apps prior to class and to have your cellphone with you when class begins.

Using eBird in combination with Merlin helps you identify and record your sightings, and the data you submit helps ornithologists track changes bird populations. A win for you and birds!
