Your Input Sought on the Carbon Tax Ballot Initiative
May 20, 2016
Please take this very brief Survey Monkey questionnaire and provide your input. Black Hills Audubon is considering taking a position concerning public action this year on reducing carbon emissions, particularly in Washington State. To help us do that, we are inviting input from members and supporters of our chapter about what you think best, and in particular your view about the carbon tax proposal (I-732) that will be on the statewide ballot in November, 2016.
I-732 would institute a tax of $25 per metric ton of CO2 (approximately equivalent to 25 cents per gallon of gasoline); this tax would increase in subsequent years. State sales tax would be reduced by one percentage point, rebates would be provided for low-income working households, and B&O tax for manufacturers would be reduced.
Survey responses are anonymous. The survey will close May 20. Thanks!
