Hood Canal/ Deb Nickerson & Whittier Johnson

This trip will explore birding sites along the Hood Canal. We’ll meet at the Mud Bay Park and Ride off Highway 101 at 7:30 a.m. We’ll proceed north to Shelton where we will take Route 3 to Allyn and then head west along Route 106, stopping along the way to look for diving ducks, loons, grebes, and others on the way to Hunter Farms. There we’ll stop to look for a mix of waterfowl, sparrows, raptors and shorebirds. We will follow the Purdy Cut-off Road south on the way back through the Skykomish Reservation, Shelton and Mud Bay. Bring a lunch and dress for the weather. Bring a scope if you have one, too.
