Exploring Mongolia’s Wildlife — Birds, Herds, and Conservation Challenges with Jean MacGregor

Mongolia, the most sparsely populated country in the world, is home to diverse ecosystems and wildlife, as well as a culture of nomadic herders with a deep connection to the land.  Longstanding Auduboner, Jean MacGregor, will share photos and stories of a 2015 Mongolian adventure that covered over 2000 miles off the beaten path.

Jean MacGregor teaches environmental education and heritage interpretation in the Masters of Environmental Studies Program at The Evergreen State College.  She also directs the Curriculum for the Bioregion initiative which supports college and university faculty members throughout Washington as they build sustainability concepts in their courses across all the academic disciplines.

Bill Yake provided most of the photos for this event and Jean MacGregor contributed some of her photos as well. Bill retired from Washington State Department of Ecology as an engineer and scientist, and then went on to write, travel, and conduct volunteer butterfly surveys. He has published several collections of poetry including This Old Riddle, The Fenceless Steppe — Travels in Mongolia, and Islands at the Edge of the World.
