Birding Nisqually Land Trust’s Powell Creek Preserve with Joe Zabransky and Kim Adelson

May 27, 2017 @ 8:00 am-11:00 am

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

This property is adjacent to the Nisqually River and is part of Nisqually Land Trust’s Powell Creek Complex, a 460-acre block, which includes mature forest as well as riparian area. The site is home to abundant wildlife, including cougar, elk, and diverse waterfowl. We will be mostly out on replanted pastures, which are still quite open at this time. Wear long pants and sleeves, as we will be walking through long grass, nettles, and thistles.  Expect the ground to be rough and uneven. Please note that there are no restrooms or paved parking area at the site. Dress for the weather as always, bring binoculars, and bring snacks or water as needed.

The site’s address is 22417 Hobson Rd SE, Yelm WA 98597, but it is tricky to find the entrance. Therefore, meet in front of Papa Murphy’s in the Safeway parking lot (East Yelm Avenue Route 507) at 8:00 to caravan or carpool to the Nisqually Land Trust site.
